Cira and fistule - the neverending story PDF Print E-mail

Cira

Translation of the whole article is in progress. The summary of the story is, that at spring 2006 we have found a strange bump on Cira´s back. It was nothing serious according to the vet. In August 2006 the bump exploded and created a fistule. Cira had her first operation for this problem in late August 2006. Followed two years of fighting the damn thing, two more operations and finally long-termed antibiotics followed by kortikoids and anti-inflammatories. Finally we succeeded and in spring 2008 we considered the fight with the fistule finished.

Two calm years followed, while we lived in oblivion. This spring brought cruel change to life of Cira and frustration for us. The fistule has returned.

17. March 2010
It is unbeliavable, but the fistule is back again. I have seen Cira licking herself at the place where the fistule used to be. I moved away the coat and ... it was there. Again, inflamed painful bump, getting ready to explode during one or two days. I cannot believe it is back again, after two years! Cira is now 11,5 years old, she really does not need this. After consultation with MVDr. Muzik from Vedilab in Plzen, Czech Republic and MVDr. Verbeke from Brussels we are again starting with antibiotics. This time Clavobay for 3 weeks and then we see, what next....
