Bubák the cat
Tomcat Bubák came to us as a youth kitten with poetical name Raven of Midnight Colony. Even though the name is nice and it fits him, we soon nick-named him Mamlasek (fool), because he acted and looked like that. Mamlásek soon grew up and became tomcat, and so we started calling him Bubák (bogy-man), sometimes also Kytka (flower) and when he is being bad, he is simply Kocour (Tomcat). Therefore if somebody asks us, what is the name of our cat, it´s rather difficult question. Luckily the cat himself does not worry about that and he will come when called any name of the mentioned, and also to "chichichi!". Bubák is Maine Coon. They are among the largest cats in the world, tomcats can reach weight about 10-12 kg. Of course our cat is a skinny noodle, which is unfortunatelly given by his bad functioning pancreas. He has to eat only his special diet food for cats with this problems, and then he is doing fine - except not getting anyhow fatter. Increased amount of activity, when he´s running around the garden hunting mice, also definatelly keeps him slim. As a cat living in appartment Bubák was very bored. His best fun was to sit on the balcony and watch the birds, eventually removing flowers out of vases, in the worst case throwing the vases over and spilling all the water. Bubák loved to sit in the kitchen sink and used every opportunity to sneak into the bathroom, sit down in the bathtube and watch around. At least he did not insist on showering. Bubák gave up these strange ideas in the moment, when after moving out to the countryside he achieved his goal by teasing his masters (us) and the dogs (by pissing into their beds) and was finally allowed to go out to the garden. In that moment Bubák became the horror of all mice in the neighbourhood. Equipped with a collar with bell and dog tag, Bubák roams the garden and decimates the mouse population. When he catches the mouse, sometimes the dogs take it from him, sometimes I take it (and then I give it to the snakes). Sometimes he proudly brings us the mouse all the way to the living room - if we are lucky it is dead, if not - it´s still alive. Then we have really a lot of fun at home!
