OUR CHICKENSRoger

After moving out to the countryside, one of the first things I decided was that we have to keep our own chickens. After researching in the chicken breeds, chicken forums and reading various articles, I decided to go for breed called Amroks. They come in only one colour variety - striped black-white with red crests and yellow feet. More important of course is, that they are supposed to be excellent in laying eggs (average 220 eggs/year) and good natured, friendly and calm, simply just the right chickens for us.

On the May 1, our chickens arrived - five hens and one rooster, age 4 weeks on average. We watched them grow fast, eat like crazy and finally came the eggs, too. Rooster Roger became the true king of the flock, keeping careful eye on his harem, calling his girls to share whatever he finds tasty and good for them.

We are happy to eat great, fresh farm eggs with deeply yellow yolks and we have lots of fun watching the chickens, which are, just as was said - friendly, good natured and definatelly spoiled...
